Sensa automatisering BV

Sensa was founded as a science based development bureau and has been in electronics development since 1987. Sensa has its origin in (bio)chemistry and its first activities included software and electronics development for analytical instruments (Euroglas BV, later Thermo-Fischer). Sensa developed the first automatic DNA thermocycler (essential for the Polymerase Chain Reaction) in the Netherlands for Gene Pharming and Mogen both at Leiden, in 1989. A never produced laboratory robot, was the basis for the development of the HDM48000 CNC system in 1992. The system was originally made to control a very fast milling machine, that was co-developed with Orthos-International BV. About 100 HDM48000 controls still operate in engraving and portal milling machines for sheet material, such as made by Cosign Graphic Systems BV. Originally written in QuickC for MsDOS, in 1999 converted to C++ with VisualStudio6/MFC for Windows2000. Currently, Windows (embedded) 8 64bit is used.

Sensa functioned as the electronics research laboratory for the start of Lemnis Lighting BV (now NTL Lemnis, India). The expertise gained from the thermocycler development could succesfully be applied for the design of the heatsink for very powerful LEDs for general lighting. Furthermore, Sensa invented a cooling system that made it possible to apply LED illumination in big Dutch greenhouses for tomatoes.
